NeXLIM by OXVA, the dual mesh open pod in three generations
Three devices, one cartridge, and retailer listings that rarely agree on capacity. The OXVA NeXLIM tends to be filed as just another pod kit in a crowded catalogue, yet what sets it apart sits in the consumable. A dual mesh cartridge, three resistance values, two heating modes and a capacity that depends on where it is sold. So we start with that cartridge, then compare the generations.
NeXLIM in brief, a dual mesh open pod
The NeXLIM is a range of open pods from OXVA, built around a refillable cartridge with an integrated dual mesh coil. The original model is rated at 1500 mAh and 5 to 40 W, with a 0.85 inch colour screen. The NeXLIM 2 moves to 2000 mAh, the NeXLIM 2 Mini returns to 1500 mAh in an aluminium body capped at 30 W, and the NeXLIM Go rounds out the family at 1800 mAh.
What holds the range together fits in one line. OXVA lists NeXLIM cartridges as compatible with all four devices, so you pick a body but keep the same consumable from one model to the next. On the British market that consumable is the 2 ml version, a point that changes more than it seems and is covered below.
Boost or Eco, the six settings of a NeXLIM cartridge
OXVA talks about two modes and six experiences, which simply means three resistance values (0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm) multiplied by two heating modes.
The difference between the modes is mechanical. In Boost, both meshes fire together for a larger heated surface and denser flavour. In Eco they alternate, one mesh at a time, which is designed to extend the life of the NeXLIM cartridge at the cost of a softer delivery.
Each value has its own power band, published by OXVA for the first model. On the NeXLIM 2 Mini, capped at 30 W, part of those bands is simply out of reach.
| Coil | Rated band | Usable on the 2 Mini |
|---|---|---|
| 0.6 ohm | 20 to 40 W | 20 to 30 W |
| 0.8 ohm | 12 to 32 W | 12 to 30 W |
| 1.2 ohm | 10 to 25 W | 10 to 25 W |
Start at the bottom of the band and work up in small steps, never past the upper limit. The highest value stops at 1.2 ohm and OXVA describes a range running from MTL to RDL, which places the NeXLIM on a relaxed restricted draw rather than a very tight one. If the tightest possible draw is the goal, our breakdown of MTL vaping on a pod is worth reading before choosing.
The 2 ml NeXLIM cartridge sold in the UK
The same cartridge exists in two formats. OXVA describes it as a 4 ml pod with a TPD version at 2 ml, and notes that pod capacity may vary by region to comply with local regulations.
In the UK, the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations cap a refillable tank at 2 ml. The British retailers we checked list the NeXLIM cartridge at 2 ml, labelled TPD compliant and sold in packs of three. On the NeXLIM and the NeXLIM 2, the TPD kit holds two 2 ml cartridges, one at 0.6 ohm pre-installed and one at 0.8 ohm. A listing or an imported box quoting 4 ml is describing stock meant for another market.
That 2 ml format changes how to read the lifespan figures. OXVA quotes more than 15 refills for the original cartridge and 20 to 30 for the UniTech 3.0 cartridge, which it puts at 80 ml in Boost and 120 ml in Eco, based on its own lab tests. Those volumes are given for the 4 ml cartridge. On a 2 ml pod, counting refills gives the wrong answer, since 20 refills come to 40 ml rather than 80, so it makes more sense to replace the cartridge when the flavour fades than to count fills.
NeXLIM, NeXLIM 2 and NeXLIM 2 Mini compared
The three devices share the cartridge and the dual mesh, not the handling. The table gathers the figures from OXVA’s own sheets, and the sections below explain what they change in use.
| Spec | NeXLIM | NeXLIM 2 | NeXLIM 2 Mini |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery | 1500 mAh | 2000 mAh | 1500 mAh |
| Power | 5 to 40 W | 5 to 40 W | 5 to 30 W |
| USB-C charging | 2 A | 3 A | 2 A |
| Display | Colour screen | Colour screen | LED light |
| Cartridge in the box | UniTech 2.0, 0.6 and 0.8 ohm | UniTech 3.0, 0.6 and 0.8 ohm | UniTech 3.0, 0.8 ohm only |

The original NeXLIM, screen and XLIM bridge
The first model set the template with the dual mesh, the two modes, adjustable side airflow and automatic draw activation. Its distinctive asset is compatibility with XLIM cartridges through an adaptor.
The NeXLIM 2, more battery and a revised cartridge
The NeXLIM 2 gains a third more battery and faster charging. According to OXVA, its UniTech 3.0 cartridge has a condensate chamber three times larger, and the airflow moves to three set positions.
The NeXLIM 2 Mini, compact and screenless
The Mini swaps the screen for a light, weighs 59 g and tops out at 30 W. Its box holds a single 0.8 ohm cartridge, where the other two models include two.
NeXLIM and XLIM cartridge compatibility
Before ordering a cartridge, it helps to separate three cases, from the safest to the most conditional.
Between NeXLIM devices the answer is clear. OXVA lists the NeXLIM, NeXLIM Go, NeXLIM 2 and NeXLIM 2 Mini as compatible with every cartridge in the series, in 4 ml and 2 ml form alike.
XLIM cartridges are a different matter. OXVA announces an adaptor for the first NeXLIM that accepts top fill XLIM cartridges from 0.4 to 1.2 ohm, and at least one British retailer states plainly that standard XLIM pods are not compatible with the device. The NeXLIM 2 and 2 Mini pages say nothing about that bridge, so it should not be assumed on those models.
Then there are separate parts. OXVA also lists an empty NeXLIM cartridge and replacement coils at 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm, whereas the British retailers we checked mainly sell the complete cartridge with its coil built in. It is the familiar trade off between simplicity and running cost, set out in our comparison of open vs closed pod systems.
Filling a NeXLIM without leaks
OXVA highlights a five layer seal on the original cartridge and an enlarged condensate chamber on the UniTech 3.0. Neither replaces careful filling through the top, stopping short of the brim, then closing the cap firmly.
Priming is where the manufacturer contradicts itself. Its product page claims full wick saturation in 30 seconds for the UniTech 3.0, while the usage steps on the NeXLIM 2 Mini page ask you to wait five minutes after filling. Follow the longer instruction, because a new coil fired dry leaves a lasting burnt taste. The other usual causes are covered in our guide to a pod leaking.
FAQ
Five questions tend to come up once the kit is out of the box, on liquid, labelling and the small differences between models. The answers below come from the manufacturer’s sheets.
What e-liquid goes in a NeXLIM cartridge?
OXVA recommends two families for all its NeXLIM cartridges, nicotine salts and freebase. In the UK, nicotine e-liquid is limited to 20 mg/ml and sold in bottles of no more than 10 ml. Liquids very high in glycerine soak the cotton more slowly and need a longer wait after filling.
What does TPD mean on a NeXLIM box?
TPD refers to the European Tobacco Products Directive of 2014, whose limits on tank size and nicotine strength still frame British rules. On a NeXLIM box it marks the version with 2 ml cartridges, which carry the same resistance values as the standard version.
Does a UniTech 3.0 cartridge fit the original NeXLIM?
Yes. OXVA ships the original NeXLIM with UniTech 2.0 cartridges and the NeXLIM 2 and 2 Mini with UniTech 3.0, and it declares every cartridge in the series compatible with all four devices. The newer cartridge therefore fits the first model too.
How do you read the light on the NeXLIM 2 Mini?
The light moves from green to blue to red as the battery drains, with thresholds at 65% and 30%. A multicoloured flash signals Boost mode and a single colour flash signals Eco, and a double tap on the side button switches between them.
How long does a NeXLIM take to charge?
OXVA quotes 80% charge in 30 minutes for the NeXLIM 2 Mini. For the other two models it publishes no charging time, only USB-C charging at 2 A on the NeXLIM and 3 A on the NeXLIM 2.
Choosing a NeXLIM, what to keep in mind
The NeXLIM is best understood through its cartridge rather than its body. Three values, two modes and compatibility declared across the whole series make that cartridge the heart of the system, whichever device you choose.
The body then becomes a question of handling. The original keeps the screen and the XLIM bridge, the NeXLIM 2 adds battery and the revised cartridge, and the Mini trades 10 W and a second cartridge for compactness.
One check avoids most mistakes, the capacity on the listing, which should read 2 ml for a pod sold in the UK. Approached that way, the NeXLIM shows what open pods offer, freedom over settings and liquid that only asks you to read the consumable before using it.
